Insight’s Eric Cunningham Delivers Presentation for Medical Packaging Seminar

September 21, 2006 - Eric Cunningham, CPP, Program Manager and Insight’s resident medical packaging expert, was one of five presenters at the New England Chapter of the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) seminar on medical packaging. The half day seminar focused on the design and issues associated with the development of packages intended for terminal sterilization.

Cunningham presented an overview of the many methods available for the sterilization of medical devices and products. He highlighted the specifics of how the device, the material, the production and packaging method all drive the important decision of choosing a sterilization method. He also presented a Sterilization Matrix which lists the common methods of sterilization and their primary advantages and disadvantages.

"The seminar addressed a variety of timely issues targeting development and sterilization during medical device manufacturing and it helped to educate the local medical community," stated Cunningham. "The Insight team shares this industry knowledge with our clients and uses experiences like this to guide the work that we provide."

Cunningham has over twenty years experience developing new products and their packaging; this includes medical products ranging from large capitol devices to disposables. He is an IoPP Certified Packaging Professional (CPP) and serves as vice president of the IoPP New England Chapter.
